Racing Incident Report

R Fradd accepted rides on both EQUIKIT and DRAGON POWER. It was established that he took the ride on EQUIKIT at declaration time and permission was then given for Y T Cheng to be engaged to ride DRAGON POWER. For accepting two rides in the one race, R Fradd was fined $3,000. After arriving at the Start, KIMBO BELL was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He had the horse trotted up and after the necessary consultation decided the horse was suitable to race. After being boxed, FORTUNE PRIZES became fractious and broke through riderless. To avoid an unreasonable delay, FORTUNE PRIZES was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, FORTUNE PRIZES will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. KIMBO BELL left the gates very awkwardly with its head up, then shifted out abruptly, as a consequence of this got well back. ACROBATIC was slowly away. In the early stages, EQUIKIT pulled hard and was very difficult to settle. Also in the early stages, HIGH SKY proved very difficult to settle, threw its head about several times, was shifted into the clear, then commenced to hang out badly and ran off. The performance of HIGH SKY was unacceptable. Before the horse will be allowed to race again, it must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. About the 1600 Metres, ACROBATIC became unbalanced when close to the heels of HIGH SKY which was shifting ground. Rounding the latter part of the turn and in the early part of the Straight, DRAGON POWER raced tight between EQUIKIT and ACROBATIC which was endeavouring to shift from behind KINDRED SPIRITS. Approaching the winning post, MILLENNIUM SUPREME turned its head to the near side and attempted to savage STOIC. Mr A S Cruz, trainer of MILLENNIUM SUPREME, was told should the horse perform similarly again, action will be taken against it. Near the winning post, GREENMORE was steadied to avoid the heels of DANEFACTOR which shifted in slightly.
