Racing Incident Report

SUPER ELITE left the gates awkwardly and threw its head about. For some distance near the 1000 Metres, HARMONY PRINCE had a tendency to pull and raced close to the heels of WINMARK. In the early part of the Straight, DANCING SOUND had trouble obtaining a clear run. Near the winning post, DANCING SOUND shifted in abruptly, because of this Apprentice M W Leung stopped riding. When asked about the disappointing performance of SUPER ELITE, E Legrix said before the race the trainer had told him at its last run it did not close off as hoped and that was put down to the going. He also said before the race the trainer had told him the horse is usually quite worked up before its runs, but today was very relaxed. E Legrix said the horse continued in this relaxed mood to the post and he thought it worked down nicely. He said he was obliged to race wide and without any cover, but this was of no concern as he thought SUPER ELITE was travelling satisfactorily. However, about the 400 Metres whilst it might have looked the horse was still travelling well, he knew from the feel of it when he asked for an effort, there would be little there and shortly after when put under pressure, SUPER ELITE failed to respond and dropped out. He said the horse was inconvenienced slightly about the 200 Metres when DANCING SOUND shifted out, but in the circumstances of this race that was of little consequence. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER ELITE will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. FORTUNE DANCER and SUPER ELITE were sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
