Racing Incident Report

NO MONEY NO HONEY was withdrawn on 5.4.02 on veterinary grounds (lame off fore limb) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter MERRY MERRY. Before being allowed to race again, NO MONEY NO HONEY will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. RED DIAMOND jumped awkwardly, bumped the inside of its gate. As a consequence of this, K S Yu was momentarily unbalanced. BOBO DUCK missed the start slightly. GRANDIOSO was restless after being boxed, then came out very awkwardly, in the early part of the Straight was inclined to lay in. Then after the 200 Metres, GRANDIOSO, which was making some ground, was checked and shifted out abruptly when disappointed for running between TRUST ME and EXPEDIENT which momentarily shifted out. To find running after this, GRANDIOSO shifted further out. Just after the 800 Metres, TRUST ME was steadied when crowded for room between FANTASY and SENSIBLE WAY which had been ridden hard to take up a position inside MERRY MERRY which was endeavouring to shift across. In the early part of the Straight, SENSIBLE WAY hung in, because of this H K Yim stopped riding and changed his whip hand. About the 200 Metres, FANTASY was steadied when disappointed for running inside CONJURING. S Dye (SPLENDID STAR) explained the horse was having its first run after a break, tonight was the first time it raced at Happy Valley. He said SPLENDID STAR always races with its head in an awkward position and also with its tail up, but tonight in the middle stages the manner in which the horse was racing was probably more pronounced than normal as he was of the view SPLENDID STAR was resenting the cut-up ground and was not on the bit as has been the practice in the past, because of this he tended to lose his position in the middle stages. He went on to say he shifted the horse into the clear in the Straight, did not use a lot of whip as in the past the horse had shown it resented it. He added in the run to the winning post SPLENDID STAR was inclined to hang in. The explanations submitted were accepted. TRUST ME was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
