Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, it was noted TRULY HAPPY had an abnormal gait. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations was passed suitable to race. OH GREAT began awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and bumped the hindquarters of MILLENNIUM LEGEND. MONEY COLT was a little slow to begin. On jumping, SPECTACULAR TALK knuckled. From a wide barrier, COMFORT was obliged to race wide and without cover throughout, then in the Straight gave ground. Near the winning post on the first occasion, MONEY COLT, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied to avoid the heels of STAR OF TAI PO which shifted in when racing tight inside MILLENNIUM LEGEND. In the circumstances, no action was taken. At the 1200 Metres, CRAIG'S HA HA was steadied to avoid the heels of STAR OF TAI PO (S K Sit) which shifted in when barely clear. S K Sit was advised to exercise more care. Shortly after straightening, OH GREAT became unbalanced when being shifted out abruptly to find clear running. MONEY COLT was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of MONEY COLT following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of MONEY COLT was considered unacceptable. Before the horse can race again, it will be required to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CRAIG'S HA HA and WISHES were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted SPECTACULAR TALK was making an abnormal breathing noise.
Additional Veterinary Report (released on 13 Feb. 2003) :
A veterinary examination of MONEY COLT, which performed poorly, immediately following the race did not show any abnormalities. The horse was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer S Woods this morning and it was noted to have abrasions and swelling to the right fore cannon, to be "jarred up" in both front fetlocks and to have significant back pain. As previously advised, MONEY COLT will not be allowed to race again until it performs competitively in an official barrier trial and passes an official veterinary examination.
