Racing Incident Report

JUSTINIAN was a little slow to begin and shortly after the start was severely checked when crowded for room between I DELIVER which shifted out and GREEN VACATION which on jumping was carried in by SHOW BRAVELY. PEARL AND GOLD was slow to begin. SONG FOR SZESZE began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its barrier. From the outside barrier, SUNNY DESERT, which was to be ridden in a rearward position tonight, was immediately steadied and shifted across behind runners closer to the rail. At about the 1500 Metres, PEARL AND GOLD was steadied to avoid the heels of NAMJONG HEART (Apprentice K T Yeung) which shifted in when not quite clear. Apprentice K T Yeung was advised to exercise more care. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, SHOW BRAVELY, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up and shifted in across the heels of GREEN VACATION after being bumped by NAMJONG HEART. C Williams (TOUCH DOWN) explained in the past the horse has always been an unreliable beginner, however, when it has jumped cleanly, it has always been the intention to allow the horse to race in a forward position. He said tonight TOUCH DOWN left the gates quite cleanly from a wide draw and he allowed it to travel forward and shift across with APPLIED SUPREME. GREEN VACATION, I DELIVER and SONG FOR SZESZE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted NAMJONG HEART had sustained a laceration to the left hind leg.
