Racing Incident Report

Prior to the running of Race 1, CHINA WORLD was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in the right fore foot and was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of CHINA WORLD. Before being allowed to race again, CHINA WORLD will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. After arriving at the Start, the Veterinary Surgeon noted EASY RECEIPT had blood in its mouth. The horse was examined, noted to have a broken incisor and was passed suitable to race. ENGINEERING WONDER and PRESENT TREASURE bumped on jumping, causing ENGINEERING WONDER to become unbalanced. NAOMERIC TE SPECSO, EASY RECEIPT and LIGHTNING BOLT were slow to begin. SIGHT CHAMPION began awkwardly and lost ground at the start. After straightening, PRESENT TREASURE shifted in and became unbalanced when close to the rail. Near the 200 Metres, SIGHT CHAMPION, which was initially directed to the inside of LIGHTNING BOLT to improve, was momentarily steadied and shifted out when that horse shifted in. Throughout the race, WATCH KING raced greenly, making the turn near the 600 Metres got its head up, near the 500 Metres was reluctant to hold its position between SIGHT CHAMPION and EASY RECEIPT, then on straightening was checked when awkwardly placed between PRESENT TREASURE and EASY RECEIPT. G Mossé (SPEEDY EXPRESS), which was having its first race start for almost four months, said the horse was a little slow to begin tonight, then failed to muster its usual speed despite his riding and consequently got further back than was anticipated. SPEEDY EXPRESS was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, SPEEDY EXPRESS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. NOBLE HERO and SIGHT CHAMPION were sent for sampling.
