Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, BRILLIANT ATTORNEY broke through and shortly after leaving the gates dislodged F Coetzee, its rider, then completed a circuit riderless. Acting on veterinary advice that BRILLIANT ATTORNEY was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered the horse be withdrawn. After being returned to the unsaddling area, BRILLIANT ATTORNEY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in the right fore leg. Before being permitted to race again, BRILLIANT ATTORNEY will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test and must pass an official veterinary examination. On jumping, BRUIN SUPREME shifted out abruptly, causing crowding on its outside to GOOD TIME FOR ALL, HIN YUEN'S UNICORN and ESCALATION, all of which became unbalanced and lost ground. BOWIN began awkwardly and bumped the inside of its gate. Near the 800 Metres, ESCALATION was steadied and shifted out when awkwardly placed inside the heels of HIN YUEN'S UNICORN. At the 600 Metres, GOOD TIME FOR ALL became unbalanced, shifted in and bumped the running rail. On the latter part of the Home Turn, RISING WIN became unbalanced and was bumped on several occasions by ESCALATION which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of HIN YUEN'S UNICORN. At the 250 Metres, GOOD TIME FOR ALL was shifted to the outside of SOUTH CHINA NINETY to obtain clear running. Near the 100 Metres, ASSET PLAY shifted out, because of this, S Dye, its rider, stopped riding and straightened. Apprentice C K Tong (SOUTH CHINA NINETY) said on straightening there was clear running available in front of him between ALBELA and ASSET PLAY, however, shortly afterwards ASSET PLAY shifted in slightly and he was of the opinion that horse would continue to shift, resulting in him being disappointed for running. He said therefore he shifted SOUTH CHINA NINETY in in an endeavour to obtain running to the inside of ALBELA, however, as he did so, ALBELA then shifted back to the running rail. He said shortly after this he switched SOUTH CHINA NINETY to the outside of ALBELA back into clear running which was still available to him between that horse and ASSET PLAY. The Stewards advised Apprentice C K Tong having regard for his inexperience that he must at all times be alert and take opportunities that present themselves to him particularly at critical stages of the race. NOBLE VICTORY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, NOBLE VICTORY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. ASSET PLAY, BOWIN and SOUTH CHINA NINETY were sent for sampling.
