Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, HOROSCOPE was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said the horse was lame in the right fore leg. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of HOROSCOPE. Before being permitted to race again, HOROSCOPE will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. MODERN PROSPECT began awkwardly, then throughout the race from the wide barrier was obliged to race wide and without cover. DESERT STORM and WINNING BOY were slow to begin. ACME OF SURPRISE began awkwardly and got its head up. For some distance passing the 1200 Metres, BLACK KNIGHT, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FIGHTING MASCOT. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, DESERT STORM was bumped by GOOD HEART which shifted out. In the early part of the Straight, DESERT STORM was hampered and carried wider by GOOD HEART which shifted to the outside of MY FAVOURITE to obtain clear running and go forward. At the 200 Metres, Apprentice M W Leung (MONZA KING) had the whip knocked from his hand by the whip of B Prebble (ACME OF SURPRISE). Over the concluding stages, GOOD HEART was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MY FAVOURITE and tight inside DESERT STORM and was therefore not ridden out right to the line as it normally would be. DONGGUAN VICTORY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. A veterinary examination of DONGGUAN VICTORY after the race did not show any significant findings. WISE CHOICE and SPRINTER were sent for sampling.
