Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the course, it was noted SWISS LAD had lost its right hind plate. This plate was re-set. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer and considered suitable to race. HK ISLAND VICTORY, which had drawn the outside gate, was immediately steadied and shifted across behind runners to a position closer to the rail. Shortly after the start, SUPER MARKSMAN was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of HEKYLL N' JYDE. Also shortly after the start, SUPREME STAR and C'EST LA VIE were steadied when crowded for room between SWISS LAD which got its head on the side and shifted in slightly and WYNDAM POWER which was carried out by ELETTARIN. No action was taken. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, C'EST LA VIE bumped the running rail. After the 600 Metres, HK ISLAND VICTORY was steadied away from the heels of SUPREME STAR. Near the 200 Metres, ELETTARIN became unbalanced, shifted in and bumped the running rail. After the 200 Metres, WYNDAM POWER, which was inclined to shift in, was steadied and shifted away from the heels of ELETTARIN. After the 100 Metres, SUPREME STAR was slightly inconvenienced by WYNDAM POWER which shifted to the outside of SOUTHERN LIGHT to obtain clear running. Throughout the race, FAT CHOY TREASURE, which had drawn towards the outside, raced wide and without cover and then in the Straight gave ground. WELL EXPRESS, which performed poorly, was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, WELL EXPRESS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, WELL EXPRESS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HEKYLL N' JYDE and SWISS LAD were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted ELETTARIN had lost its left hind plate.
