Racing Incident Report

When being marshalled in the sand yard prior to the race, ABLE MARS broke loose and returned to its stable. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer and after consulting with Mr T K Ng, the trainer of the horse, it was considered suitable to race. CHAMPION BOY was slow to begin. FORTUNE TONE was slow to begin and then was steadied away from the heels of CASH KING which shifted out after being bumped by CONGEE KING. ACTIVE ACCOUNT began awkwardly, got its head up and became unbalanced. DANEPRINT and WATCHMAN lost ground at the start. At the 800 Metres, SPARKLE was momentarily steadied when awkward inside the heels of ABLE MARS. Near the 700 Metres, WATCHMAN, which was proving difficult to settle, was awkwardly placed behind LIGHTING THE WORLD and tight inside SPARKLE. After the 600 Metres, CASH KING was carried wider by ABLE MARS which after shifting to the outside of PRETTY DOUBLE was carried out by that horse which shifted to the outside of FORTUNE TONE which was commencing to give ground. On straightening, CASH KING was bumped by ABLE MARS. Shortly after straightening, LIGHTING THE WORLD when placed under pressure shifted in abruptly behind TELECOM TYCOON. Shortly after this, LIGHTING THE WORLD was bumped on two occasions by WATCHMAN which shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CONGEE KING which was giving ground. Near the 100 Metres, LIGHTING THE WORLD was steadied when crowded for room between SPARKLE and WATCHMAN (J Quinn) which shifted to the outside of PRETTY DOUBLE to continue going forward. J Quinn was reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to exercise more care. After the 100 Metres, SPARKLE was reluctant to maintain its position inside CASH KING which shifted in slightly when being ridden out. In the Straight, ABLE MARS hung in and proved difficult to ride. Throughout the race, CASH KING raced wide and without cover. The performance of FORTUNE TONE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, FORTUNE TONE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SPARKLE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, SPARKLE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. DANEPRINT was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of DANEPRINT after the race did not show any significant findings. TELECOM TYCOON and ABLE MARS were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported MAESTRO had bled from both nostrils.
