Racing Incident Report

SCREAMING EAGLE began awkwardly, shifted in abruptly, bumped the hindquarters of ACCLAMATION and became unbalanced. HORACE'S HORSE began awkwardly. On jumping, TIMBER CITY and MAJESTIC FEELING bumped. In the early and middle stages, TSUNAMI proved very difficult to settle, on a number of occasions got its head up, near the 700 Metres shifted out abruptly and as a result of this FAVOURITE EXPRESS and TIMBER CITY were carried wider. Just prior to straightening, TSUNAMI was steadied when disappointed for running between FOR YOUR EYES ONLY which shifted out slightly and CHEERFUL SUNSHINE which after racing wide and without cover shifted in slightly when commencing to give ground. Shortly after this, CHEERFUL SUNSHINE shifted out and bumped FAVOURITE EXPRESS which as a result became unbalanced. AURELIAN, which was following FAVOURITE EXPRESS, received some inconvenience as a result. Early in the Straight, AURELIAN raced tight inside TIMBER CITY. After the 200 Metres, TSUNAMI was carried wider by HORACE'S HORSE which shifted ground when hanging out. In the Straight, SCREAMING EAGLE hung in. C Williams (TIMBER CITY) explained from a wide draw he had today been instructed to ride the horse somewhere about midfield if possible with cover. He said the manner in which the race was run meant it was not possible for him to obtain cover and he was held wide throughout. W Woods (HORACE'S HORSE) explained at its most recent start the horse which had drawn barrier 1 appeared to resent racing with horses on its outside and had previously performed well when racing wider on the track. He said because of this his instructions were not to race on the rail and if possible avoid having horses racing on his outside. He said HORACE'S HORSE travelled a little keenly in the lead, at the 600 Metres he shifted about one horse away from the rail in accordance with his instructions. He said at this time he had a look to his outside to ensure when shifting he was not going to cause interference to runners racing behind him. He said entering the Straight he allowed HORACE'S HORSE to drift wider and again because of his instructions he was not concerned at allowing the opportunity for runners to improve on his inside. W Woods was told his riding in the middle stages and rounding the Home Turn had come to the notice of the Stewards and his explanation would be reported. HAPI HAPI and MAJESTIC FEELING were sent for sampling.
