Racing Incident Report

WAFER KING began awkwardly and bumped the inside gate of its stall. EASY PUNCH began awkwardly, threw its head around, shifted in abruptly and consequently lost ground at the start. On jumping, GENKI KING shifted out, then became unbalanced after bumping the hindquarters of KAO AND MING. After this, GENKI KING raced greenly, near the 800 Metres was steadied when momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of CHAMP DE UNION. For the remainder of the race, GENKI KING continued to race greenly and on a number of occasions became unbalanced. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, BACK SEAT DRIVER got its head on the side and hung in away from SUPREME STAR. Making the Home Turn, SNIPER became unbalanced after bumping the running rail. In the Straight GOLDEN PROMISE hung in. G Mossé (SUPREME STAR) said tonight because of the drop back in distance to 1000 Meters and also the horse having drawn gate 12, he was instructed to ride it in a forward position if possible. He said accordingly he rode along in the early stages, SUPREME STAR hung in throughout and proved difficult for him to ride. Trainer K L Man confirmed the instructions and said he believed if the horse went back in tonight's race as is usual, it would be left with too much to do. The Stewards accepted the explanations of G Mossé and Mr Man. BACK SEAT DRIVER was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, BACK SEAT DRIVER was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant abnormalities. KAO AND MING and CHAMP DE UNION were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted GOLDEN PROMISE had sustained a laceration to the left hind pastern.
