Racing Incident Report

BEAR DOMINANCE and UNIVERSAL CHARGER were slow to begin. Prior to straightening, PERFETTO was steadied away from the heels of KIDDY SING which was carried in by CELEBRATION which shifted in when giving ground. In the Straight, AMBITIOUS TYCOON got its head on the side, was inclined to shift out and after the 200 Metres raced tight inside LUCKSWELL. P Payne (SUMMERLAND) explained he intended to lead the race and accordingly after the horse began well, he allowed it to go forward to lead. He said in the early stages SUMMERLAND over-raced, would not relax for him and consequently went quicker than he would have liked in the first 600 Metres. He said after this SUMMERLAND began to relax and he was able to steady the tempo. Mr J Moore, the trainer of LUCKSWELL, which performed poorly at its most recent start, said as was explained to the Stewards on that occasion A Marcus, who rode the horse, felt it had choked down during the run. Mr Moore said after that race he had considered applying a tongue tie to LUCKSWELL, however, he decided against doing so. He said he did however remove the blinkers from LUCKSWELL in the hope the horse would settle better during the run and then be able to finish its race off. The explanation of Mr Moore was noted. GREEN IN BLUE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, GREEN IN BLUE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. SUMMERLAND, LUCKSWELL and AMBITIOUS TYCOON were sent for sampling.
