Racing Incident Report

THOUSAND WINS began awkwardly and lost ground. HELENE PILLAGING was slow to begin. Throughout the race, WHATABOB raced wide and without cover and making the turn near the 700 Metres got its head on the side and hung out. At the 600 Metres, GLORIOUS LIGHT was steadied when crowded for room between SALENTINO and TRUST ME which shifted out slightly. D Whyte (AMAZING) said in the past the horse had shown itself to travel keenly, however, today AMAZING began only fairly and then in the early stages seemed reluctant to stride out, he therefore rode the horse along vigorously to go forward and follow PAOBRIDGE. He said at no stage of the race did AMAZING travel in the manner it usually does, however, after the race when warm appeared normal in its action. D Whyte did say he dropped his whip near the 400 Metres, however, in the circumstances of this race he did not believe this was significant in the performance of AMAZING. AMAZING was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. A veterinary examination of AMAZING after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, AMAZING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HELENE PILLAGING, PAOBRIDGE and DEVON ELITE were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 28 May 2004)
AMAZING, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. AMAZING was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D E Ferraris on Thursday, 27 May. He said at this time the horse was found to be lame in the left front leg. As previously advised, AMAZING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
