Racing Incident Report
FORTUNE LAD was withdrawn on 31.12.04 on veterinary grounds (inappetance) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FLORAL DANCER (K S Yu). Before being permitted to race again, FORTUNE LAD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After arriving at the saddling stalls, STOIC, which had kicked the rail when being led over from the marshalling area, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said the horse was suitable to race. On jumping, FLORAL DANCER stumbled. ESPRIT D'OR began awkwardly and lost ground. A PLUS FIT, which had been fractious in its stall, on jumping shifted in and bumped HENNESSY DAYS. A PLUS FIT was then ridden along to go forward, however, was unable to clear runners to its inside and raced wide and without cover throughout. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, MAGIC TEMPLE was steadied when crowded for room between MAGIC TOUCH which shifted out away from the heels of SILLY BOY and SMART CHIEF which shifted in while C Soumillon, its rider, was adjusting its goggles. C Soumillon was advised to exercise care. After the 1200 Metres, SILLY BOY was checked when crowded for room inside SMART CHIEF which at this time was laying in and was carried in further by STOIC which got its head on the side and shifted in away from A PLUS FIT despite the efforts of D Holland, its rider. In the circumstances, no action was taken. MADE IN HONGKONG and ESPRIT D'OR, which were following SILLY BOY, were checked in consequence. Making the Home Turn, STOIC was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ARROGANCE which was giving ground. Shortly after straightening, ESPRIT D'OR was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of SILLY BOY which shifted in. Over the concluding stages, SILLY BOY hung out. ARROGANCE was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that ARROGANCE had bled from both nostrils. MAGIC TEMPLE, MAGIC TOUCH and FLORAL DANCER were sent for sampling.
