Racing Incident Report
When the gates opened, FLYING PROFILE sat back and lost a considerable amount of ground at the start. After this, FLYING PROFILE trailed the field throughout and finished tailed out. The performance of FLYING PROFILE was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FLYING PROFILE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. STEP FORWARD began awkwardly and lost ground. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, SHOW BRAVELY got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of LAZY BUDDIES which was shifting in to a position with cover. At the 1400 Metres, SHOW BRAVELY was steadied when awkwardly placed between ESPRIT D'OR and FORTUNE DANCER. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, WINWIN COMBO was steadied away from the heels of COTTON BALL which at this time was racing tight inside GOLDEN MAPLE. Near the 200 Metres, WINWIN COMBO was momentarily steadied away from the heels of NOBLE GLORY which got its head on the side and shifted in. After this, NOBLE GLORY continued to hang in and proved difficult to ride out. At the 200 Metres, SYLLABUS, which was giving ground, was steadied when momentarily crowded for room by MADE IN HONGKONG which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in. D Whyte (COTTON BALL) was unable to offer any explanation for the performance of the horse. He said when it won COTTON BALL had led, however, because of the pace of today's race in the early stages he initially elected to race outside SYLLABUS. He said in the middle stages when MADE IN HONGKONG went forward he allowed that horse to cross him to obtain cover. He said in the Straight COTTON BALL did not respond to his riding. FLYING PROFILE and FLORAL DANCER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FLYING PROFILE and FLORAL DANCER after the race did not show any significant findings. COTTON BALL, SHOW BRAVELY and ESPRIT D'OR were sent for sampling.
