Racing Incident Report

DASH AHEAD and CHALLENGER were slow to begin. TRAVEL LEADER began awkwardly. Near the 1600 Metres, CHALLENGER was steadied when crowded for room inside PEAK POWER. After the 1600 Metres, SUNNY RIVIERA, which was proving difficult to settle, was awkwardly placed on the heels of SPRINTER. Near the 1400 Metres, SPRINTER became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of MASTERY. After the 1400 Metres, ROYAL FALCON was shifted out and allowed to stride forward into the lead. Near the 1200 Metres, PEAK POWER was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of CHEERFUL HEART which was checked to avoid the heels of FOREVER WIN which itself was steadied away from the heels of TRAVEL LEADER (Y T Cheng) which after leading steadied the pace in front. Y T Cheng was advised against allowing his mounts to slacken the speed too abruptly. Near the 1000 Metres, TRAVEL LEADER was steadied when momentarily crowded for room inside ROYAL FALCON. At the 600 Metres, SUNNY RIVIERA and SPRINTER were carried wider by DASH AHEAD which at this time shifted to the outside of MASTERY. Just prior to straightening, MASTERY was checked when crowded for room between DASH AHEAD and PEAK POWER (W M Lai) which when endeavouring to improve on the outside of GOOD HEART (C Brown) where there was insufficient room was carried wider by that horse which shifted to the outside of FLYING SUCCESS. Whilst the Stewards believed the incident was one of some significance, they could not be satisfied that it was attributable to one rider, therefore both W M Lai and C Brown were reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. SPRINTER, which was following MASTERY, was steadied and shifted out to avoid that horse. In the early part of the Straight, PEAK POWER was held up and unable to improve between GOOD HEART and DASH AHEAD. After the 400 Metres, PEAK POWER was steadied and shifted to the outside of DASH AHEAD. Throughout the race, FLYING SUCCESS raced wide and without cover. MYSTIC FORCE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MYSTIC FORCE after the race did not show any significant findings. DASH AHEAD, KA KA WIN and FOREVER WIN were sent for sampling.
