Racing Incident Report

ZEONIC FRONTIER was withdrawn on 7.10.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (respiratory disease) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SPECIAL LENGTH (M Rodd). Before being allowed to race again, ZEONIC FRONTIER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ELFHELM began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of NATIVE LANGUAGE. On jumping, AMERICAN VICTORY was bumped by UNIVERSAL PIONEER. From the outside barrier, SURE JOY was taken across behind runners, then in the early stages proved difficult to settle and after the 1200 Metres got its head up and was checked when being steadied away from the heels of SUPERB. After the 1200 Metres, AMERICAN VICTORY, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of VITALITY CHAMP (D Whyte) which shifted in when not quite clear. D Whyte was advised to exercise greater care. At the 1100 Metres, SURE JOY, which was continuing to prove difficult to settle, was checked when awkwardly placed inside the heels of SUPERB which was steadied to avoid the heels of WITHALLMYHEART (K S Yu) which shifted in when not fully clear and was then steadied. K S Yu was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to exercise greater care. At the 1000 Metres, DONGGUAN VICTORY was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of WITHALLMYHEART. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, AMERICAN VICTORY, which was continuing to prove very difficult to settle, got its head up and shifted out abruptly across the heels of WITHALLMYHEART. As a result of this, DONGGUAN VICTORY, SURE JOY and SUPERB were all severely inconvenienced with SURE JOY and SUPERB being checked. After this, AMERICAN VICTORY hung out. The performance of AMERICAN VICTORY in the opinion of the Stewards was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, AMERICAN VICTORY will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. At the 600 Metres, SPECIAL LENGTH was crowded for room between SURE JOY and SPARKLE which at this time was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of NATIVE LANGUAGE. Making the Home Turn and in the Straight, SUPERB hung out. Near the 300 Metres, DONGGUAN VICTORY and NATIVE LANGUAGE bumped. After this, NATIVE LANGUAGE was carried wider by AMERICAN VICTORY. Near the 200 Metres, SPARKLE, which was closing the race off, was momentarily steadied when having difficulty obtaining clear running between DONGGUAN VICTORY and SURE JOY. When giving ground near the 100 Metres, GOODWOOD got its head on the side, shifted out and made contact with ELFHELM. When questioned, C Brown (ETERNAL DRAGON) said after racing three wide in the early stages, at the 800 Metres he elected to come back to a position with cover behind GOODWOOD. He said at the same time WITHALLMYHEART improved around his outside and his mount was reluctant to hold its position passing the 600 Metres between WITHALLMYHEART and VITALITY CHAMP. He said as a consequence of this VITALITY CHAMP was able to shift away from the rail and improve its position. C Brown was told to ensure at all times he rides in a competitive but safe manner. AMERICAN VICTORY was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of AMERICAN VICTORY after the race did not show any significant findings. VITALITY CHAMP and UNIVERSAL PIONEER were sent for sampling.
