Racing Incident Report

FLAMING LAMBORGINI was withdrawn on 26.11.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter PALETTE NATURAL (B Prebble). Before being allowed to race again, FLAMING LAMBORGINI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After being boxed, LEILATI became fractious and when this occurred, the tongue tie fitted to the horse loosened. While the tongue tie on LEILATI was being adjusted, CALIFORNIASUNSHINE became fractious and broke through riderless. CALIFORNIASUNSHINE completed the course before being recaptured and was then withdrawn by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice that the horse was not suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, CALIFORNIASUNSHINE will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. M Rodd (HEALTHY WEALTHY) was fined $1,000 for initially entering the incorrect stall. When the gates opened, LUCKSWELL bounded in the air and lost ground. Also when the gates opened, HEALTHY WEALTHY lifted its front feet off the ground and as a consequence was slow to begin. CLASSIC DELIGHT was a little slow to begin. From a gate towards the outside, NORTHERNER was immediately taken back across behind runners. Making the first turn, RIVER ESPERANTO hung out. CLASSIC DELIGHT, which was being shifted across behind runners, was steadied to avoid the heels of RIVER ESPERANTO. Approaching and passing the 1600 Metres, LOTZATOW and CLASSIC DELIGHT, which were proving difficult to settle, got their heads up. After the 1500 Metres, MIGHTY HUGO, which had been proving difficult to settle when racing three wide and without cover, was allowed to stride forward into the lead. At the 1400 Metres, RIVER ESPERANTO was steadied and shifted to a position behind LOTZATOW. On straightening, PALETTE NATURAL got its head on the side and hung in, then shortly afterwards shifted out, causing inconvenience to STABLE MAIL which as a result was steadied. Over about the final 50 Metres, RIVER ESPERANTO shifted abruptly wider on the track. Close to the line, LIBERAL'S CHOICE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LEILATI and therefore was not ridden out as it normally would be. M Rodd reported his mount hung in throughout the race. CLASSIC DELIGHT was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CLASSIC DELIGHT after the race did not show any significant findings. LOTZATOW, DR WELL and MIGHTY HUGO were sent for sampling.
