7 2 LIBERAL'S CHOICE (CC345) A Delpech -- Fastest into stride and crossed to lead early, handed up passing 1500 M, enjoyed good trail behind leader thereafter, eased 2 wide in straight and could only manage to hold ground.
8 7 RIVER ESPERANTO (CE090) F Coetzee B/TT Away fairly settled in rearward spot 8Ls from lead, made run 5 wide on turn and tried hard in straight without threatening winner (shifted out near 50 M mark).

12 11 NORTHERNER (CD293) P H Lo -- Taken back from outside gate, raced well back in 2nd last 12Ls off pace, followed fence thereafter but only battled away in stretch.
13 1 HEALTHY WEALTHY (CC067) M Rodd TT Slowly away, raced 4th last 2 wide 10Ls from lead, made some ground to turn but unable to sustain effort and didn't finish race off.
