Racing Incident Report
MAJESTIC MISSILE was withdrawn on 9.12.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (after effects of travel sickness). On jumping, CHINEUR got its head up and lost ground. ABLE PRINCE bounded in the air at the start. Shortly after the start, BENBAUN was steadied when crowded for room between ABLE PRINCE an NICOLE'S DREAM which got its head on the side and shifted in. NIPPING was slow to muster speed. Near the 700 Metres, ABSOLUTE CHAMPION became unbalanced when crowded for room between CAPE OF GOOD HOPE and WARCAT which got its head on the side and shifted in. Near the 500 Metres, COUNTRY MUSIC stumbled as a result of clipping the heels of ADMIRE MAX (H Uemura) which shifted out slightly away from WARCAT after being carried out by that horse when improving towards its outside. In the circumstances, H Uemura was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to make a greater effort to protect his fellow riders. At the 500 Metres, PLANET RULER got its head on the side, shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of NATURAL BLITZ. Also at the 500 Metres, BENBAUN was shifted to the outside of ABLE PRINCE. After the 400 Metres, ABLE PRINCE hung in. Near the 200 Metres, WARCAT was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed between ABSOLUTE CHAMPION which shifted out and BENBAUN which shifted in. After the 100 Metres, the whip of F Coetzee (COUNTRY MUSIC) became entangled behind the boot of M Kinane (CAPE OF GOOD HOPE). Just prior to the winning post, CAPE OF GOOD HOPE was steadied when awkwardly placed between COUNTRY MUSIC and ABLE PRINCE which when continuing to hang shifted in. ADMIRE MAX was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ADMIRE MAX after the race did not show any significant findings. CAPE OF GOOD HOPE, NATURAL BLITZ and PLANET RULER were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported CAPE OF GOOD HOPE had sustained a laceration to the left hind pastern.
