Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Happy Valley holding stalls, it was noted that SPICY GRILL had sustained a wound to the lower jaw. Acting on veterinary advice that SPICY GRILL was not suitable to race, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, SPICY GRILL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
AMAZEMENT shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of SMART IDEA which was also bumped and taken in by THE MULTIPLIER which shifted in after being bumped on the hindquarters by RED BRICK GLORY. After this, RED BRICK GLORY was shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier.
From wide barriers, YEE CHEONG WARRIOR and STAR OF WUYI were also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Near the 400 Metres, RED BRICK GLORY momentarily raced tight between THE MULTIPLIER and AMAZEMENT which shifted out away from the heels of KABI SMART.
Passing the 100 Metres, AMAZEMENT raced tight inside the heels of SMART IDEA.
Throughout the race, THE MULTIPLIER travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, STAR OF WUYI was noted to be making an abnormal breathing noise. An endoscopic examination found the horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
A veterinary inspection of ILLUSTRIOUS immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ILLUSTRIOUS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of YEE CHEONG WARRIOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
INNO LEGEND and SMART IDEA were sent for sampling.
