Background:
David Probert is an experienced lightweight jockey with 1,686 wins at a strike rate of 11% in a string of jurisdictions including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and the United Arab Emirates. Welsh-born Probert was British flat racing Champion Apprentice in 2008, British All-Weather champion jockey in 2022 and Welsh flat racing jockey of the year in 2022. Apprenticed to leading English trainer Andrew Balding, Probert rode his first winner in December 2007, when Mountain Pass won at Wolverhampton. As of 30 June 2025, Probert has won 21 Group 2 and 3 races, in Great Britain, Germany, Qatar and Italy. He is yet to win a Group 1 race, but has six minor placings at the top level, with his best Group 1 result so far being second place on 50/1 outsider Tip Two Win in the 2018 2000 Guineas Stakes and second place on 150/1 chance Hoo Ya Mal in the 2022 Epsom Derby Stakes. Probert is currently riding in the United Kingdom.
