Background:
Craig Williams is one horse racing’s most respected riders. The Australian commenced his riding career at age 16 and since then he has traversed the globe with Group 1 wins in Australia, Hong Kong, Great Britain, Japan, France, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates. In 2025, he reached a career highlight with success aboard Cap Ferrat in the Hong Kong Derby, while in 2011 he won the Hong Kong Vase with Dunaden – one of over 86 Group 1 triumphs for Williams worldwide. He has over 2,500 wins across his career with 127 of these in Hong Kong (as of 1 December, 2025). During seasons 2003/04 and 2004/05 in Hong Kong, Williams partnered 32 and 35 wins, respectively, each campaign. He is a winner of the Melbourne Cup, Caulfield Cup, W.S. Cox Plate and Golden Slipper – Australian racing’s ‘Grand Slam’. In recent years, he is famed for assocations with standout Australian performers Mr Brightside, Bella Nipotina, Giga Kick and Behemoth.
