Racing Incident Report

FIELD'S WINNER was slowly away. HORSE OF HEALTHY jumped awkwardly. Near the 1200 Metres, DIAMOND KING was checked to avoid AFICIONADO (R Fradd) which shifted in when not clear. It was established however that when shifting ground AFICIONADO was pulling and shifted in somewhat abruptly away from TYPHOON. It was decided not to take any direct action, but R Fradd was severely reprimanded and told in slightly different circumstances action would have been taken against him. About the 1200 Metres, QUICK COMMANDER, which was proving difficult to settle, threw its head about when being steadied to avoid the heels of REALLY LUCKY which shifted in when barely clear to race in a position beside EXTRAORDINARY. E Saint-Martin (QUICK COMMANDER) said after the incident at about the 1200 Metres, the horse continued to prove difficult to settle and he felt he had little alternative but to shift to the outside and race in the clear. The horse travelled wide without cover for the rest of the race. REALLY LUCKY made the Home Turn awkwardly. M Kinane (REALLY LUCKY) was fined $20,000 for failing to continue to ride his mount out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards [Rule 132(iii)]. HORSE OF HEALTHY was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said that HORSE OF HEALTHY was very lame in its off side front leg. Before being allowed to race again, HORSE OF HEALTHY will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
