Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the course, ALLEZ ALLEZ was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said the horse had sustained a laceration on the bridge of its nose and mild swelling was apparent. This was reported to have happened inside the horse's own box. The Veterinary Surgeon discussed the situation with the Trainer who expressed concern about ALLEZ ALLEZ running and after considering all the circumstances the Veterinary Surgeon decided that the horse was not suitable to race. Accordingly ALLEZ ALLEZ was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being presented for the race, JADE RUYI had its near side hind plate refitted. HOLLYWOOD STAR jumped awkwardly and bumped the inside of its gate. When the gates opened, JADE RUYI bounded in the air. SPECTACULAR WIN raced in a forward position, was obliged to race wide, had a tendency to pull and was not able to find any cover. About the 1000 Metres, JADE RUYI lost its position when awkward on the inside of DANCING SURPASS. After the 200 Metres, E Saint-Martin (CLEAR MASTER) dropped his whip. Also after the 200 Metres, HAPPY TYCOON was shifted out to find running. In the Straight, TELECOM TWIN hung in. When questioned, J Egan (DANCING SURPASS) said he did anticipate even before the race the horse may be looking for more ground than that of tonight's event, however, with the conditions as they were, he did think DANCING SURPASS may be able to run well. He said for some distance after the 500 Metres he was awkwardly placed behind HOLLYWOOD STAR and did consider shifting to the outside of that horse to try and improve, but when it shifted out, he elected to shift back in to go on its inside. He went on to say on straightening he again considered shifting to the outside of HOLLYWOOD STAR, but again elected to shift abruptly to its inside and find running along the rail. He said when he shifted DANCING SURPASS in, the horse shifted quite abruptly, struck the running rail and then was able to improve inside HOLLYWOOD STAR. J Egan acknowledged that his ride on DANCING SURPASS had not been one of his better ones. When questioned regarding his riding in the concluding stages, J Egan explained in the run to the winning post he was somewhat awkwardly placed between RIGHT ON and TELECOM TWIN which he was aware was hanging in. J Egan was told he must whenever possible ride all mounts out at least hands and heels right to the winning post. In reminding him of his obligation in this regard, the Stewards were satisfied that on this occasion the finishing position of DANCING SURPASS was in no way affected. DANCING SURPASS and CLEAR MASTER were sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
