Racing Incident Report
At about 2:30 pm the Senior Veterinary Surgeon requested a Veterinary Surgeon examine PRIME WITNESS. He said the horse had its off side front plate refitted this morning. On examination the horse was trotting sound, but the Veterinary Surgeon said it had some heat and a digital pulse in its off side front foot. The Assistant Trainer requested that any final decision be deferred until the horse was presented at the saddling stalls. Before being saddled, PRIME WITNESS was again examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who discussed the situation with the Trainer and it was then decided that PRIME WITNESS was suitable to race. TAJASUR left the gates awkwardly. SCHUBERT jumped awkwardly, bumped the inside of its gate, then shifted in abruptly. On jumping, CLIFFHANGER shifted out abruptly and bumped SUN SHINE RIVER. W Woods (KENWOOD MELODY) said just as the gates opened, the horse shifted back, as a consequence came out slowly. About 100 Metres out, SUN SHINE RIVER shifted ground slightly and bumped BEST OF THE BEST. In the run to the winning post, PLENTY-PLENTY had a tendency to lay in.
