Racing Incident Report
Whilst parading, CHUNG ON TREASURE kicked out and made contact with a rail. On arriving at the Start, CHUNG ON TREASURE was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultation it was decided CHUNG ON TREASURE was suitable to race. LEGEND OF VELOCITY (Apprentice S K Sit) refused to participate in the pre-race parade, dislodged Apprentice Sit and could not be ridden to the Start. To avoid an unreasonable delay, LEGEND OF VELOCITY was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Mr P Chapple-Hyam, trainer of LEGEND OF VELOCITY, was told before the horse can race again, the Stewards will need to be satisfied that it can participate satisfactorily in the pre-race parade and further it will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. After the incident with LEGEND OF VELOCITY, Apprentice S K Sit was examined by the Club's doctor who said he was fit to continue with his engagements. BRILLIANT DOLPHIN jumped awkwardly and bumped the inside of its stall. On jumping, FISH KING knuckled. Approaching and rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, PRINCESS BEAUTY hung out. Near the 300 Metres, BRILLIANT DOLPHIN was checked when tightened for room between BEIJING DOLLAR and PRINCESS BEAUTY (Y T Cheng) which after being struck with the whip shifted in. The Stewards were satisfied that Y T Cheng stopped riding and straightened as required and accordingly no action was taken. Over about the last 200 Metres, when giving ground, METRO FLYER became unbalanced and shifted ground. About 100 Metres out, LUCKY MASTER was momentarily unbalanced and shifted in, because of this W C Marwing stopped riding and straightened. The Stewards allowed Mr K L Man, trainer of LUCKY MASTER, an opportunity of explaining the horse's improved run today. Mr Man said LUCKY MASTER has had three runs with him, the first being over 1000 Metres. Since then LUCKY MASTER has had two runs at Sha Tin over 1400 Metres, but on both occasions it was drawn very badly. He said at the horse's last start he had instructed the rider that day to settle LUCKY MASTER in the early stages and take up a position near the rail at the rear of the field. He said however the way the race was run the horse was not ridden in accordance with the instructions, was obliged to cover a lot of ground throughout. Today similar instructions were given, but from a slightly better draw LUCKY MASTER was taken back, came to the outside with an uninterrupted run in the Straight and closed the race off strongly. Mr Man assured the Stewards nothing had changed with the work pattern of LUCKY MASTER, its work going into this race has been a little different from that previously and the win today surprised him.
