Racing Incident Report

BEST EVER was withdrawn on 30.11.01 on veterinary grounds (swollen near fore cannon) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter MR PRESIDENT (Apprentice M W Leung). Before racing again, BEST EVER will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. When the gates opened, WELL CONTEND bounded in the air, as a consequence of this lost considerable ground. On leaving the gates, PERFECT VICTORY threw its head about. On jumping, DIVINE FEELING and ANIMATED PLAYTHING came together. When being steadied just after the start, ANIMATED PLAYTHING raced ungenerously and threw its head about. Near the 800 Metres, WINNING ASSOCIATES, which was pulling and racing with its head up, hung out onto the hindquarters of POWER OF SUCCESS and was checked. In the circumstances, no action was taken. W C Marwing (GET IT EASY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)]. The careless riding being that at about the 800 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of ANIMATED PLAYTHING. As a consequence of this, ANIMATED PLAYTHING lost its running, was checked and shifted in, this caused GOOD MESSAGE to be severely checked and nearly fall. In all the circumstances of this case, the Stewards believed the appropriate penalty was that W C Marwing be suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 27 December 2001 on which day he may resume race riding (5 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin meeting next Wednesday night. About the 500 Metres, WINNING ASSOCIATES and ALWAYS ON bumped. AUTHORISED and DIVINE FEELING were sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, it was reported that ANIMATED PLAYTHING had been stripped on the off side hind leg.
