Racing Incident Report
Whilst the horses were parading, Mr Martin Tsang, a work rider attached to the stable of Mr D Oughton, found in the saddling area a piece of covered lead. He gave this to Mr Danny Shum, assistant trainer for Mr I W Allan, trainer of MAJESTIC WARRIOR, thinking it was part of the gear from that horse. Mr Shum established this was not from the saddle of MAJESTIC WARRIOR and handed the piece of lead to the Clerk of the Scales. The Stewards made inquiries and it was found that the piece of lead belonged to the saddle of HONEST DRAGON (F Coetzee). HONEST DRAGON was unsaddled and F Coetzee re-weighed, this caused a delay to the start. As Mr L Ho, trainer of HONEST DRAGON, had left the course and was not possible to seek from him explanations regarding the matter, the inquiry was adjourned until next Sunday at the Sha Tin Race Course. Just after the start, SUPER SPLENDID shifted out slightly and brushed the shoulder of HAIL WINNER. HONEST STEED was steadied from the gates and shifted across behind other runners to a position near to the rail. On jumping, QUICK STEP was crowded for room between MAJESTIC WARRIOR and METRO TRAVELLER, both of which had shifted ground. Turning out of the Straight the first time, SOUND GALLOP was steadied when crowded between HONEST STEED and HAIL WINNER which was racing very tight just inside the heels of MAJESTIC WARRIOR. Near the 400 Metres, HONEST STEED was steadied when held up behind SUPER SPLENDID and inside DE INTEGRO. Just after straightening, SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT hung in and bumped the hindquarters of HONEST DRAGON. About the 200 Metres, SOUND GALLOP was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between HAIL WINNER and QUICK STEP. In the Straight, SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT hung in.
