Racing Incident Report
NOBLE CHARGE was slowly away. CAPITAL STAR left the gates very awkwardly with its head up and just after the start continued to race awkwardly with its head up, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of ROYAL STAR. B Marcus (BACK SEAT DRIVER) said at no stage of the race did the horse feel comfortable in its action. He said in the Straight it was inclined to get its head up and over about the last 200 Metres shortened up in its stride noticeably. He said as he was concerned with the way the horse was going, he did not pull the whip and ride the horse out as hard he normally would. Before BACK SEAT DRIVER can race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. TOP WINNER and LOMBARD were sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that LOMBARD and CAPITAL STAR were bleeding from both nostrils.
