Racing Incident Report
On jumping, ACTIVE ACCOUNT shifted in abruptly and bumped MILLENNIUMTREASURE. UNITY left the gates awkwardly and threw its head up. In the early stages, REFRESHINGLY pulled very hard, proved very difficult to settle and about the 800 Metres got its head up, shifted about abruptly when continuing to pull and raced close to the heels of METRO FLYER which shifted out slightly. LEAD TO WIN, which was following, was hampered in consequence. The Stewards allowed Mr D Cruz, trainer of ACTIVE ACCOUNT, an opportunity of explaining the horse's last two runs which on the face of it were somewhat disappointing, particularly after its first up run which was promising. Mr Cruz acknowledged the horse's first up run was good, after that it had continued to work well as the horse usually does and on 7 September 2002 was fancied by the stable and he hoped it would run well. He said that day the horse travelled amongst others and appeared to be reluctant to hold its ground. After that race he removed the visor from the horse, again it continued to work well, but because of the poor run he was unsure how it would compete on 12 October 2002. He said again amongst horses ACTIVE ACCOUNT was very disappointing and after that poor run he did advise the owners should ACTIVE ACCOUNT not run well today, it might be in their interests to find another stable. Mr Cruz said he re-applied the visor to ACTIVE ACCOUNT, instructed O Doleuze to make sure the horse travelled to the outside and had uninterrupted running at all times. He was of the view these factors attributed to the horse's better run today. He did point out ACTIVE ACCOUNT is inclined to get on the toe before races and sweat up, today this was again the situation. The explanations submitted by Mr Cruz were accepted. METRO FLYER, ACTIVE ACCOUNT and INCREDIBLE were sent for sampling.
