Racing Incident Report

DYNAMIC WINNINGS was withdrawn on 8.11.02 on veterinary grounds (left fore suspensory ligament injury) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter HIDDEN TALENT (F Coetzee). Before DYNAMIC WINNINGS can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. When the gates opened, DANELAW bounded in the air, threw its head about, then on coming out knuckled. BOUNTIFUL jumped a little awkwardly and shifted out. Running towards the 1600 Metres, WINNING TOUCH raced awkwardly between HEART'S DESIRE and HANDSOME MAN which was being taken in slightly by SECOND OPINION. After being steadied from its position, WINNING TOUCH came back to be momentarily behind HANDSOME MAN, accidentally clipped the heels of that horse and stumbled. The occurrence in the opinion of the Stewards was accidental. For some distance after the 600 Metres, WINNING TOUCH raced awkwardly between DANELAW and TALK OF THE TOWN. Near the 500 Metres, HEART'S DESIRE (M Cahill) improved to a position between SECOND OPINION and HANDSOME MAN where there was barely racing room. Shortly afterwards, SECOND OPINION, which was unable to hold its position inside TELECOM TWIN, was checked. Inconvenience was also caused to TWEET and to TALK OF THE TOWN. The crowding was accentuated as HANDSOME MAN was inclined to shift away from the running rail. No direct action was taken, but M Cahill was reprimanded and told to ensure he has sufficient racing room before endeavouring to improve his position. About 100 Metres out, PERFECT VISION was steadied and shifted out when tight between NOT GUILTY and BOUNTIFUL. TWEET, NOT GUILTY and TALK OF THE TOWN were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported that DANELAW was making an abnormal breathing noise. This has been reported before. No further action is necessary. Subsequent to the race, it was noted BOUNTIFUL had lost its left front plate.
