Racing Incident Report

EQUUS ZEPHYRUS and MONETARY STAR were slow to begin. JUSTINIAN bounded in the air at the start and shortly afterwards was checked to avoid the heels of QUICK NEWS which shifted in abruptly after having bumped WINNING FIESTA. From a wide barrier, WONDERFUL LIFE, which began well, was immediately steadied and taken back to a position near the rear. Near the 1300 Metres, SHANGHAI FRIEND, which was proving difficult to settle, was steadied to avoid the heels of SWAGGIE (O Doleuze) which shifted in when not quite clear. O Doleuze was advised to exercise more care. Near the 1200 Metres, STEP FORWARD, which was proving difficult to settle, became unbalanced when close to the heels of VAJRA. On straightening, WINNING FIESTA was bumped and carried wider by WONDERFUL LIFE which was shifting out to obtain clear running. In the Straight, EQUUS ZEPHYRUS hung out. QUICK NEWS was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, QUICK NEWS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. PRETTY TRIO and SHANGHAI FRIEND were sent for sampling.
