Racing Incident Report

After entering the track, SEREVI dislodged S K Sit, its rider, and then galloped a considerable distance riderless before being caught. Acting on veterinary advice that SEREVI was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered the horse's withdrawal. Trainer K L Man advised the Stewards he will recommend to the owner that SEREVI be retired. The Stewards decided they will await the outcome of Mr Man's recommendation before they consider whether any action should be taken against the horse. GOOD HEART was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, LUCKY KING was crowded for room between OPERA MAGIC and BOWIN, both of which shifted ground. Also shortly after the start, PERFETTO was bumped by QUICK NEWS which after beginning awkwardly and bumping the outside gate of its stall shifted in away from the heels of PARADIS. Shortly after the start, Y T Cheng (QUICK NEWS) reached down with his left hand to adjust his foot in the stirrup. In the early stages, GOLDEN STRIDE proved very difficult to settle and near the 1200 Metres got its head up and shifted out away from the heels of ATHLETIC GOLD. After this, GOLDEN STRIDE was obliged to race wide and without cover. After the 1000 Metres, LUCKY KING was steadied when close to the heels of DESERT STORM. After straightening, LUCKY KING was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running between GOLDEN STRIDE and QUICK NEWS. Near the 300 Metres, DESERT STORM was momentarily steadied when tightened for room inside OPERA MAGIC. After the 200 Metres, LUCKY KING shifted out and bumped GOOD HEART on two occasions. Over the final 200 Metres, EPIC ENTERPRISE hung in. Over the concluding stages, DESERT STORM and OPERA MAGIC were not ridden out as a result of being crowded for room inside NEVER SAY NEVER which shifted in slightly when giving ground. OPERA MAGIC was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, OPERA MAGIC was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. BOWIN and THE ACHIEVER were sent for sampling. The Veterinary Officer reported following the race that he conducted an endoscopic examination of THE ACHIEVER and this showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, THE ACHIEVER will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
