Racing Incident Report
LUCKY LUCKY was slow to begin. On jumping, CHIU CHOW HERO became unbalanced after being bumped by GANBARIA STAR which shifted in after being bumped by WIN FORTUNE which on jumping shifted in. GANBATTE began awkwardly and lost ground. CRAIG'S HA HA, which was to be ridden back tonight from the outside gate, was immediately steadied on jumping and taken across behind runners to a position on the rail but at the rear. Shortly after the start, CHIU CHOW HERO was steadied to avoid the heels of GANBARIA STAR which shifted in away from WIN FORTUNE which itself was taken in slightly by WINWIN COMBINATION. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, GANBARIA STAR was steadied when crowded for room between TELECOM TWIN which got its head up and shifted out and WINWIN COMBINATION which shifted in after being bumped by AMERICAN WIN. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, TELECOM TWIN became unbalanced after being bumped by WINWIN COMBINATION. For some distance after the 600 Metres, LUCKY LUCKY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of AMERICAN WIN which commenced to give ground. GANBATTE, which was following LUCKY LUCKY, was steadied away from that horse's heels, momentarily shifted in and caused some crowding to CHIU CHOW HERO which as a result was steadied. On straightening, WIN FORTUNE was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of AMERICAN WIN which was giving ground. Over about the final 100 Metres, GANBARIA STAR was held up for running behind THE MOST DAUNTLESS and inside TELECOM TWIN. Because of this, GANBARIA STAR was not properly tested. After the 100 Metres, WINNING SEASON, which was giving ground, was steadied when momentarily crowded for room between TELECOM TWIN and CHIU CHOW HERO which improved into a tight run on the inside of WINWIN COMBINATION. In the Straight, GANBATTE hung in. Throughout the race, PLEASANT SUCCESS hung in. K C Tsang (WIN FORTUNE), which performed poorly tonight, said the intention had been to ride the horse in a forward position, however, it began awkwardly and shifted in, causing it to lose ground. He said after this WIN FORTUNE was slow to muster speed and when runners crossed from his outside, WIN FORTUNE appeared to resent racing in the kickback on tonight's wet track. He pointed out two starts ago WIN FORTUNE had performed well on a yielding track at Sha Tin, however, on that occasion the horse raced in a forward position and did not face the kickback. K C Tsang's explanations were accepted. WIN FORTUNE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, WIN FORTUNE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. CHIU CHOW HERO and THE MOST DAUNTLESS were sent for sampling.
