Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, SUCCESSIVE GAINS was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. When the gates opened, DANAMITE bounded in the air and on landing knuckled. GALLANT KNIGHT was a little slow to begin, then shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded for room between THE DUKE and HIDDEN DRAGON (F Coetzee) which shifted in when not quite clear. F Coetzee was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care. CHEERFUL FORTUNE, which was to be ridden with cover if possible today, began awkwardly, bumped the inside of its gate and as a consequence lost ground. Shortly after this, CHEERFUL FORTUNE commenced to over-race and was tightened for room between SELF FLIT and SMART WINNER which shifted in slightly. CHEERFUL FORTUNE continued to prove difficult to settle in the early stages. At the 600 Metres, SHAXI FORTUNE was steadied away from the heels of SMART WINNER. In the early stages of the Straight, CHEERFUL FORTUNE was held up and unable to obtain clear running behind SELF FLIT. To obtain clear running after the 300 Metres, CHEERFUL FORTUNE was steadied and shifted to the inside of BOLD FIGHTER. Over the final 50 Metres, GREAT DELIGHT was carried wider by HIDDEN DRAGON which shifted out. Throughout the race, AMBITIOUS TYCOON from the outside barrier was obliged to race wide and without cover. CHEERFUL FORTUNE and HIDDEN DRAGON were sent for sampling.
