Racing Incident Report
JAZZ BEAT began awkwardly and got its head up. Near the 1400 Metres, JAZZ BEAT got its head up when awkwardly placed inside the heels of JOYFUL SPIRIT. After the 800 Metres, GOOD TRIO, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of JAZZ BEAT. Also after the 800 Metres, FAT CHANCE was carried wider by JAZZ BEAT. Shortly after straightening, BY INSTINCT was steadied and shifted to the outside of THUNDER STORM which was giving ground. After this, BY INSTINCT was shifted out further to obtain clear running, got its head on the side, shifted further and caused crowding on its outside to WEALTHY TREASURE which was giving ground. M Kinane (DANEHILL WARRIOR) explained after the 1200 Metres he shifted his mount wider on the track as in his opinion it did not seem to appreciate racing in the kickback. He said he continued on three wide down the Back Straight when racing in a straight line, then approaching the turn at the 800 Metres he again shifted back to a two wide position outside WEALTHY TREASURE. S Dye (WEALTHY TREASURE) said the horse, which was having its first run on the All Weather surface today, was not suited in the quickly run race having to carry 132 lbs. He said WEALTHY TREASURE seems to be able to run out 1650 Metres at Happy Valley, however, at Sha Tin had shown itself to struggle when attempting to run over 1650 Metres. He said in the Straight WEALTHY TREASURE did not respond to his riding and overall was most disappointing. WEALTHY TREASURE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, WEALTHY TREASURE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, WEALTHY TREASURE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. THUNDER STORM was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, THUNDER STORM was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, THUNDER STORM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. JOYFUL SPIRIT and GOOD TRIO were sent for sampling.
