Racing Incident Report
LUCKY ENCOUNTER was slow to begin. A BETTER DRAGON was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded for room between BIEN BIEN HEART which shifted in and AMICABLE which after beginning awkwardly shifted out. After the 1600 Metres, SUPER CATCHER was steadied and shifted in across the heels of TRI-STAR. Before the 1200 Metres, TELECOM BABE, LUCKY ENCOUNTER, AMICABLE and KASHMAC became unbalanced as a result of bumping when racing tight outside A BETTER DRAGON which at this time got its head up and shifted out away from the heels of BIEN BIEN HEART. Near the 500 Metres, AMICABLE was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of KASHMAC. On straightening, Apprentice P H Lo (DANEPRINT) dropped his whip. Near the 250 Metres, KASHMAC was steadied when disappointed for running between BIEN BIEN HEART and LEUNG'S FAVOURITE which shifted out slightly. After this, KASHMAC was steadied and shifted to the inside of LEUNG'S FAVOURITE and then for a considerable distance after the 200 Metres was held up and unable to improve on the inside of that horse. At the 150 Metres, KASHMAC was again steadied and shifted to the outside of LEUNG'S FAVOURITE to obtain clear running. Apprentice P H Lo said he had been instructed to go forward on the horse and because of the anticipated pace of the race it was felt he would settle in about 3rd position. He said DANEPRINT began only fairly, he immediately rode it along in an attempt to go forward, however, the horse did not show the anticipated speed and consequently raced wide and without cover in about midfield until after the 800 Metres. He said he then shifted in to obtain cover behind TRI-STAR, however, when the horse came under pressure near the 600 Metres, it did not respond to his riding and in the Straight gave ground. DANEPRINT was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. A veterinary examination of DANEPRINT after the race did not show any significant findings. MR PRESIDENT and A BETTER DRAGON were sent for sampling.
