Racing Incident Report
GOLDEN SUPREME was withdrawn on 25.3.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN SUPREME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When the gates opened, CASH SURPRISE bounded in the air and lost ground. Shortly after the start, OUT OF MY WAY, TOP PRIZE and SOCRATES were checked when crowded for room between DANEPRINT which shifted out and DIVINE FEELING which got its head on the side and shifted ground when hanging. No action was taken. DIVINE FEELING continued to hang in until crossing to the fence after the 1400 Metres. Near the 1500 Metres, FLORAL DANCER, which was being endeavoured to be ridden with cover, was steadied away from the heels of DIVINE FEELING which itself steadied after crossing to the lead. In the middle stages, after being crossed by DANEPRINT, DIVINE FEELING raced awkwardly when close to the heels of that runner as the tempo steadied. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, TOP PRIZE hung out. Near the 300 Metres, CASH SURPRISE was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between OUT OF MY WAY and SPECTACULAR HIT which at this time shifted out. Apprentice C K Tong, the rider of DIVINE FEELING, reported after entering the Back Straight his saddle shifted to the left side. E Saint-Martin (DANEPRINT) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in the box seat which he understood to be on the fence following one runner. He said because of the crowding at the start he was not able to go forward initially and therefore continued to race in a three wide position in the early stages. He said he did consider shifting in to a position behind SUPER DANA after the 1800 Metres, however, he was not able to do so as SHINING LIGHT was racing to his inside. He said after this when DIVINE FEELING went forward he decided to allow DANEPRINT to stride forward to avoid racing three wide in the hope of being able to obtain a more favourable position. He said when he did this SUPER DANA went forward with him until the 1400 Metres. He said at this time he also noticed DIVINE FEELING commencing to steady the pace so he elected to allow DANEPRINT to continue on and cross to the lead near the 1200 Metres, it was then his intention to allow DANEPRINT to relax and to allow one runner to improve around his outside and give him his desired position. He said racing down the Back Straight DANEPRINT relaxed comfortably for him, at no stage did he steady his mount and whilst he was aware the pace of the race was being steadied significantly he felt he was riding his horse to give it the best possible chance. He said after being crossed by SUPER DANA near the 800 Metres DANEPRINT enjoyed a comfortable run, however, in the Straight did not close the race off at all. DANEPRINT was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DANEPRINT after the race did not show any significant findings. SOCRATES and SHOW BRAVELY were sent for sampling.
