Racing Incident Report
On arrival at the barriers, GOLDEN FARM was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said after the necessary consultations it was considered suitable to race. CENTURY SUPER STAR was slow to begin. BULLISH KID bounded in the air at the start. MODERN INTEREST was a little slow to begin and shortly afterwards was checked when crowded for room between GRASS HOPPER and MAIN ATTRACTION which on jumping got its head on the side and shifted out. After this, MODERN INTEREST hung out throughout the race and after the 100 Metres was steadied away from the heels of BULLISH KID. Shortly after the start, DANTHEMAN was steadied away from the heels of SIGHT CHAMPION. A Delpech (HEALTHY) was unable to offer any explanation for the horse's poor performance. He said the intention had been to race as far forward as possible, however, at no stage did HEALTHY travel for him. He did say on pulling up HEALTHY made an abnormal breathing noise. S Dye (STEPS AHEAD) said the horse travelled satisfactorily until the 500 Metres and failed to respond to his riding thereafter. HEALTHY and STEPS AHEAD were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of HEALTHY and STEPS AHEAD after the race did not show any significant findings. GOLDEN FARM and RACING SPIRIT were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 17 May 2005)
STEPS AHEAD, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. STEPS AHEAD was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer C S Shum last Sunday. He said at this time he noted the horse to be very lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, STEPS AHEAD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
