Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, BULLISH KID bounded in the air and lost ground. Shortly after the start, CENAMIRA lost ground when crowded for room outside AWESOME EAGLE which got its head on the side and shifted out. STRAWBERRY KISSES and SUPER LUCK were slow to begin. At the 600 Metres, CHOSEN ONE was checked when crowded for room between SPEED FIGHTER and AWESOME EAGLE which at this time when being steadied away from the heels of MANGROVE got its head on the side and shifted out. In the circumstances, no action was taken. After this, AWESOME EAGLE continued to hang out, then approaching and passing the 400 Metres was steadied and shifted in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MANGROVE which was giving ground. Near the 100 Metres, SUPER LUCK, which was closing the race off, got its head up and was reluctant to improve into a narrow run between STRAWBERRY KISSES and BULLISH KID. Throughout the race, JET RISE raced wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the poor performance of DOUCAI, Apprentice C K Tong said after being obliged to race wide throughout the race on today's track the horse then failed to finish the race off and gave ground in the Straight. He said while DOUCAI had previously performed well on the All Weather Track when it had been rain affected, he believed the condition of today's track was softer than it had been in the past. DOUCAI was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DOUCAI after the race did not show any significant findings. SOUND OF SILENCE, CENAMIRA and SILLY BOY were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 20 June 2005)
DOUCAI, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. DOUCAI was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer T W Leung yesterday. He said at this time he noted the horse to be mildly lame in the left hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, DOUCAI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
