Racing Incident Report
EXCELLENT DAY was a little slow to begin, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of SUPER PEARL. CHERISHED began awkwardly, got its head up and lost ground. After the 1200 Metres, VITAL PATROL proved difficult to settle when endeavouring to allow TELECOM TYCOON to cross and provide it with cover. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, EXCELLENT DAY hung out. After the 200 Metres, CHINOOK was momentarily steadied away from the heels of NATIVE LANGUAGE which got its head on the side and hung in. D Whyte (COTTON BALL) was unable to offer an explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said COTTON BALL led as was instructed and travelled comfortably at its own tempo. He said shortly after straightening when placed under pressure COTTON BALL did not respond to his riding as he thought it should and kept on only fairly. He said the stable had indicated to him that the horse was well going into today's race and was expected to run accordingly. COTTON BALL was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of COTTON BALL after the race did not show any significant findings. VITAL PATROL, TELECOM TYCOON and CHINSOLA were sent for sampling.
