Racing Incident Report

SPACE SHUTTLE began awkwardly, bumped the outside gate of its stall, then shifted further and made contact with the hindquarters of CALIFORNIA HEART. GAUCHO began awkwardly. WIN FOR ALL began awkwardly and bumped the inside gate of its stall. Shortly after the start, EASY PUNCH became unbalanced after being bumped by WIN FOR ALL. G Mossé (BOLD FIGHTER) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 700 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of CALIFORNIA HEART, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be severely checked. G Mossé was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Wednesday 2 November 2005 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting next Wednesday 26 October 2005. In addition, G Mossé was fined $25,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. Just prior to the winning post, WIN FOR ALL was checked when crowded for room inside DILIGENT (S K Sit) which when hanging in shifted ground. S K Sit was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to make a greater effort to protect his fellow riders. The performance of SPACED, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SPACED will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. F Coetzee (CALIFORNIA HEART) explained after the 600 Metres the buckle on his right stirrup leather came undone, causing him to lose the use of that stirrup and as such he was placed at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race. NEW MILESTONE and GAUCHO were sent for sampling.
