Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Parade Ring, it was noted the left front plate of WISHING WELL had shifted. This plate was reset. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. GOLD DIGGER began awkwardly and lost ground, then from its wide barrier raced in a rearward position. On jumping, JOY TRUMPS was crowded for room between WISHING WELL which shifted in and JUST IN TIME which shifted out after being bumped by MILLENNIUM DAWN. SUPER WINNER began awkwardly, then shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded for room between MONEY EXPRESS which was carried in by KID GALAXY and BRAINIEST which began awkwardly, blundered and shifted out. After this, BRAINIEST was bumped by ONE EYE JACK. Near the 1000 Metres, ONE EYE JACK was steadied when crowded for room inside BRAINIEST which got its head up and shifted in when being steadied away from the heels of KID GALAXY which at this time was coming back to obtain a position with cover. In the middle stages, GOLD DIGGER raced wide and without cover. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, SUPER WINNER was crowded for room inside WISHING WELL which got its head on the side and shifted in away from JOY TRUMPS. Shortly after this, MILLENNIUM DAWN became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of WISHING WELL which itself was steadied away from the heels of PORT OF HOPE. In the Straight, KID GALAXY hung in. BRAINIEST, MONEY EXPRESS and SHINING LIGHT were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, MONEY EXPRESS, which finished tailed out, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in the right hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, MONEY EXPRESS will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of BRAINIEST and SHINING LIGHT after the race did not show any significant findings. The performances of BRAINIEST and SHINING LIGHT, both of which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BRAINIEST and SHINING LIGHT will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GOLD DIGGER, JOY TRUMPS and JUST IN TIME were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 24 October 2005)
BRAINIEST
BRAINIEST, which finished tailed out, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. BRAINIEST was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer D Oughton yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be cut and bruised over the left front cannon area. As previously advised, BRAINIEST will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
PORT OF HOPE
Mr C Fownes, trainer of PORT OF HOPE, reported that yesterday morning following its race on Saturday the horse was lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, PORT OF HOPE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
