Racing Incident Report

Prior to the running of Race 1, the Veterinary Officer examined FRIENDSHIP which was this morning reported to have a mild abdominal pain. He said in his opinion FRIENDSHIP was suitable to race. JOYFUL WORLD, which was becoming increasingly restless and distressed in the holding stable, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was showing signs of a mild colic attack and as such was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of JOYFUL WORLD. Before being allowed to race again, JOYFUL WORLD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CARE FREE PRINCE was slow to begin. RAINBOW DIAMOND was slow to begin and then became unbalanced when bumped by VITAL PATROL which shifted in. FRIENDSHIP, which was standing with its head turned to the left, began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with FAIRPLAY. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, DRAGON STRIDE was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of FAIRPLAY which at this time shifted in. Near the 1000 Metres, SUPERB got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of CHERISHED. After the 900 Metres, VITAL PATROL got its head up and raced awkwardly when close to the heels of DRAGON STRIDE. Near the 400 Metres, RAINBOW DIAMOND was steadied and shifted to the outside of MOMENTUM. At the 400 Metres, CARE FREE PRINCE was disappointed for running between SUPERB and MOMENTUM. Over about the final 150 Metres, CARE FREE PRINCE was held up and unable to improve inside QUALITY-QUALITY which was racing close to the heels of FUNTRAP which was giving ground. As a consequence of this, CARE FREE PRINCE was not tested and QUALITY-QUALITY was not properly tested. After the 100 Metres, SUPERB, which was laying out, was awkwardly placed inside the heels of DRAGON STRIDE which shifted in slightly. Also after the 100 Metres, CHERISHED was steadied when unable to obtain clear running between FRIENDSHIP and FAIRPLAY. FRIENDSHIP was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of FRIENDSHIP after the race did not show any significant findings. VITAL PATROL and FAIRPLAY were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported VITAL PATROL had lost its right front plate.
