Racing Incident Report
When being saddled, LUCKY MONEY became fractious and lost its left hind plate. LUCKY MONEY was re-plated and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. STAR OF NORTHERN got its head up on jumping and lost ground. FIRST KNIGHT began awkwardly, lost ground and was then checked when crowded for room between FLORAL ARTS which shifted in and JOIN VICTORY which after beginning awkwardly and bumping the inside gate of its stall shifted out. NICKU NICKU began awkwardly. SOLDIER ON, which was standing badly, was slow to begin. KING OF SPADES and BRIGHT AND GAY were slow to begin. Prior to straightening, JOIN VICTORY was steadied when unable to improve between LUCKY MONEY and NICKU NICKU. Passing the 400 Metres, LUCKY MONEY was held up and unable to improve. For a considerable distance after the 400 Metres, KING OF SPADES was held up and unable to improve when racing behind VINCERE. At the 300 Metres, FIRST KNIGHT, which for some distance had been unable to obtain clear running, became unbalanced and shifted in abruptly when being steadied to avoid the heels of FLORAL ARTS which was giving ground. For some distance passing the 300 Metres, SOLDIER ON, which was beginning to close the race off, was held up and unable to improve when behind FAST TRACK and inside BRIGHT AND GAY. Throughout the race, SABRE AND GOLD raced wide and without cover. The performance of FLORAL ARTS, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FLORAL ARTS will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FAST TRACK was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FAST TRACK after the race did not show any significant findings. LUCKY MONEY, FORTUNE WARRIOR and JOIN VICTORY were sent for sampling. The Veterinary Officer reported that following the race ONE SHOT was subjected to an endoscopic examination at the request of the trainer. He said this showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ONE SHOT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
