Racing Incident Report

W M Lai (STAR OF NORTHERN) was reprimanded for presenting the incorrect saddle cloth when weighing out. RED WINE SUPREME was slow to begin. WISE LOVER was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded for room between DISGUISE and STAR OF NORTHERN, both of which shifted ground. In the middle stages, ROCKET WIN hung out. After the 200 Metres, BOREAS was shifted to the inside of DISGUISE to find clear running. After the 50 Metres, RED WINE SUPREME, which was giving ground, was steadied away from the heels of DISGUISE which shifted out. A Delpech (HUANG PU DRAGON) said in the middle stages of the race his saddle shifted forward. D Whyte (LUCKY CORDELIA) said recently the horse had been ridden further forward and had not been finishing its races off. He said when he had previously ridden LUCKY CORDELIA, the horse had shown its best form when being ridden from behind, therefore from a wide barrier tonight he was instructed to ride LUCKY CORDELIA from back in the field. F Coetzee (MIRACLE DRAGON) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse in midfield if possible. He said when the gates opened MIRACLE DRAGON began awkwardly, as a consequence lost ground which allowed other runners on his inside to progress forward, he therefore elected to let MIRACLE DRAGON settle in a rearward position. He said prior to straightening MIRACLE DRAGON was forced wider on the track and then in the Straight did not close the race off. He said in his opinion the poor performance of MIRACLE DRAGON tonight was attributable to it not beginning well and consequently getting too far back in the run. MIRACLE DRAGON was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MIRACLE DRAGON after the race did not show any significant findings. WISE LOVER, MASTER MARAUDER and DISGUISE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted FIGHT BACK was making an abnormal breathing noise. The horse was subsequently examined by the Veterinary Officer who said an endoscopic examination showed the horse to be a "roarer" and also to have a substantial amount of mucopus in the trachea. Before being allowed to race again, FIGHT BACK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 15 December 2005)
The Senior Veterinary Officer reported that CHING HOI STAR was this morning found to be lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, CHING HOI STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
