Racing Incident Report

CHOSEN ONE and ALIPES were slow to begin. Near the 1000 Metres, ALIPES was checked when crowded for room inside WAFER KING (C Brown) which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in. C Brown was told to ensure he did his utmost to protect his fellow riders. PLEZAYRE, which was following ALIPES, was checked in consequence. In the middle stages, LIBERAL'S RIDE hung in, then making the Home Turn got its head up and hung out badly and in the Straight hung in. In the early part of the Straight, EVEREST got its head on the side and shifted in. After the 300 Metres, HAPPY SUNDAY when disappointed for running between STRAWBERRY KISSES and GREAT IDEA was steadied and shifted to the inside of STRAWBERRY KISSES. WITHALLMYHEART, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of HAPPY SUNDAY. After the 100 Metres, WAFER KING was steadied away from the heels of GREAT IDEA which shifted out. Close to the line, SILVER WRAITH and ALIPES raced tight. C Soumillon (PLEZAYRE), which was having its first race start around a turn, said from the outside barrier he had been instructed to drop the horse in to avoid being caught wide. He said during track work when going around turns PLEZAYRE had shown a tendency to hang out if it did not have another horse on its outside, it was therefore thought to go forward might leave PLEZAYRE racing without cover and as a consequence the horse would hang out. C Soumillon said because of his instructions PLEZAYRE, which began awkwardly, was immediately taken across behind runners. He said in the Straight PLEZAYRE finished the race off fairly. Mr J Moore, the trainer of PLEZAYRE, said the intention had been to ride the horse with cover and it was hoped that this possibly could be around midfield. He said however as SILVER WRAITH which had drawn inside PLEZAYRE did not begin well and then maintained a position wide on the track, he was satisfied that C Soumillon took PLEZAYRE across behind that runner to a position on the rail. STRAWBERRY KISSES and LIBERAL'S RIDE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of STRAWBERRY KISSES and LIBERAL'S RIDE after the race did not show any significant findings. HAPPY SUNDAY, WAFER KING and GREAT IDEA were sent for sampling.
