Racing Incident Report

MASTER GIGOLO began awkwardly and bounded in the air at the start. On jumping, THE KING shifted in and made contact with DAY OR NIGHT. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, LUCKY GOOD DAY failed to muster speed. Making the first turn, THE KING got its head on the side and shifted in away from CRYSTAL which shifted in when barely clear. As a result, DAY OR NIGHT and LUCKY CHAMPION, which were racing to the inside of THE KING, were crowded for room. THE KING was then straightened and when doing so caused some inconvenience to CZAR OF PRUSSIA which was being shifted across behind runners. No action was taken. Near the 1400 Metres, JOYFUL SPIRIT was checked when awkwardly placed close to the heels of LUCKY CHAMPION which was steadied when awkwardly placed while racing tight inside DAY OR NIGHT. No action was taken. After the 1400 Metres, THE KING became unbalanced when crowded for room between DAY OR NIGHT and MASTER GIGOLO. Prior to the 400 Metres, JOYFUL SPIRIT was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of CZAR OF PRUSSIA. Shortly after straightening, CRYSTAL and STABLE MAIL bumped. Throughout the race, LIBERAL'S KNIGHT and ABLE KNIGHT raced wide and without cover. MASTER GIGOLO was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, MASTER GIGOLO was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He noted the horse to be mildly lame in the right hind leg and also to have sustained a laceration to the right hind pastern. Before being allowed to race again, MASTER GIGOLO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. STABLE MAIL and BEETHOVEN were sent for sampling.
